How to Repurpose One Idea Into a Week of Content with AI

A simple system for turning a single piece of content into a week of posts across every platform using AI, without sounding repetitive or generic.

You do not have a content problem. You have a repurposing problem. Most business owners create something good, post it once, and move on, when that one idea could have fed a week of content across every platform. AI makes repurposing fast enough that there is no excuse to leave ideas on the table.

Here is how to turn one idea into a week of content.

The mindset shift: one source, many formats

Stop thinking in posts. Start thinking in source pieces. A source piece is one substantial thing: a blog post, a podcast or video, a long voice note, or a talk you gave. Everything else is a cut from that source. One good source piece can produce a week or more of content, and AI does most of the cutting.

The repurposing map

From a single source piece, you can reasonably produce:

  • One short newsletter
  • Three to five social posts, each on a different angle
  • A LinkedIn post
  • A carousel outline
  • A short video script
  • A handful of standalone quotes or one-liners

That is a week of content from one idea, and most of it is the same point told in different shapes for different places.

The step-by-step workflow

Step 1: Start with one strong source piece

Quality in, quality out. Pick or create one piece worth multiplying. If you are starting from a recording, get the transcript first.

Step 2: Pull the angles

Before you generate posts, find the distinct points inside the source. One source usually contains several.

Prompt: Here is a piece of content. List the 5 distinct angles or points inside it that could each stand alone as a post. [paste]

Step 3: Generate each format

Now turn the angles into formats, in your voice.

Prompt: Turn this content into a short newsletter, three social posts each on a different one of the angles you found, and a short video script. Use my voice: [paste voice sample]. Keep each piece focused on one idea. [paste source]

Step 4: Pull the quotables

Prompt: Pull 8 short, quotable lines from this content that would work as standalone posts. [paste]

Step 5: Edit and space it out

Edit each piece so it stands on its own and sounds like you, then schedule them across the week so they do not feel repetitive. The same idea spaced out and reshaped reads as a theme, not a rerun.

Do it in bulk with Claude Code

The steps above are a handful of prompts. When you want the whole thing to happen in one move, Claude Code can take a source file and produce every format at once, drafted in your voice, ready for your edit. Point it at a transcript and get back a newsletter, social posts, a script, and the quotables in a single run. We recommend Claude for repurposing because it keeps your voice consistent across all the pieces, which is exactly where lazy AI output usually falls apart.

Do not just autopost

Repurposing is leverage, not an excuse to flood every channel with raw AI output. Each piece still gets your edit and a check that it fits the platform. The goal is to stop wasting good ideas, not to lower your standard.

Your next step

Repurposing works best when your source pieces are aimed at the right people in the first place. The free AI Marketing Audit Scorecard helps you see where to point your content. For the system that creates the source pieces in the first place, read how to create a month of content in one afternoon.
